responce

responce- this book is quite repetative. every time they catch him and then he escapes. i thought maybe at the end, they would catch him, but it through me for a loop. they almost caught him again, but he escapes, and that is the end of the book, they finally let him go. i also thought that Cacciato's reason for running away wasn't a very good reason. but it is an American author, and talks aout our American troups. and talks about our belief's and how we half to follow orders. that is why the 6 soldiers had to chase after Cacciato so long.

Blog 2 of going after Cacciato

Summary-the author was telling us how they take post at night, they divide the night into 5 sections, and then 5 of the soldiers take each section of time. they did this so they knew if someone was after them at night, and also in case Cacciato was on the move during the night. one night while Stink was on guard, he heard something, so he snuck up on it and it happened to be Cacciato. he almost caught him, but he got away by biting and hurting Stink. the rest of the night and most of the next day, they other troups were bandaging him up and letting him heal a little. then they were on their way after Cacciato once again. the group o soldiers found his trail and followed it. as they were following it, they ran into an open place where water buffolo were standing. this caught Stink by surprise and by reaction, he started shooting, suddenly they heard something like girls crying. they went behind some bushes and found 2 old ladies and one young one. the young one said they were refugees and the other 2 were her aunts. she also said the buffolo were her aunt's buffolo, which they raised since they were born. then they wanted to go with the soldiers, and they finally let into letting them come. every night the 2 older women would weep for their lost water buffolo. on the good side though, the buffolo still alive, they got to travel on them. once again the 6 soldier were chacing after cacciato. they went through the jungle, over the mountains, and through deserted towns. one day they found Cacciato again. he was on the top of a hill, so they soldiers surrounded him. they couldn't close in on him, since he would be able to exscape in the large gaps, so they stayed back farther and waited for him to surrender. then at night he exscaped anyways, and took the girl that was with the soldiers. then we found out the reason why Cacciato was heading to paris. he was older guy, was sick of the war, and just always wanted to go to paris. next they think they caught him again, they thought they had him trapped in a hotel. they went into the room he supposeably was in and oscar ran in to the room and couldn't stop shooting. he was going crazy. the room was empty though, and they found where he was camping on the out skirts of town. he left them a note that said "heading west" . so Cacciato and the girl escaped again, and that was the end.

going after cacciato

in my book, it starts out talking about everyone that died in, and the soldiers that were left were standing among all the dead bodies. the weather isn't very good since it is raining everyday, so everything is extremely muddy and their man holes are full of water. then it goes into talking about Cacciato, a soldier, who ran away to france. the soldiers that were in his group decide they half to go after him to catch him. so they start on their journey after him. they split up and tried to trap him in the middle, but Cacciato exscaped the trap and kept on moving forward. they no longer were on his trail, and had to make their own trail. meanwhile the sergeant was sick and not looking very good. half of the soldiers wanted to go back, and the others thought they should go after him, so they kept chugging away after him. then it goes into talking about one of the soldiers named Paul Berlin, and the troups he had under his command.
Responce-
so far in this book, i dont quite understand what is going on. i understand they are chasing after Cacciato, but have no clue why. you think if a soldier was running away, you wouldn't have a group chase after him, because then you are just taking more away from battle. i would think they would just shoot him in the leg if they had a chance, which they did while they were chasing after him. anyways they also have a sick sergeant, which they should be getting help form somewhere. what i like about this book is that is goes into a lot of detail, about the war and almost lets you experience whats going on. it makes the book more interesting and i think the reason he hasn't told us why cacciato is so special is because it keeps us interested and wondering why. it also makes you want to keep reading to figure out why they are chasing him, because it almost makes you mad that you you don't no. well thats all i have for today bye. :)

CH 26

the final chapter. Holden doesn't want to talk about what went on in the park, but he ended up going home. i think this was a goof idea, because he needs a lot of help. it says he got sick and was put in an insane house. it is a good thing he is there, because he is getting to be so crazy that pretty soon he is going to kill someone or himself. the medical attention might help him overcome Allie's death and let him move on with a better life. also his brother D.B. comes to visit him and talks to him about his problems. i think that is what he needed, just someone to listen and to talk to.

CH 25

in this chapter holden seems to be becoming even more messed up and i think he is becoming insane. he is calling out to his dead brother to help him get across the road, and is just freaking out about everything. he then goes to the museum to meet his sister, so he can give her the money back she gave him. he sees "Fuck you" written all over the place and it made him angry. i don't get why that angered him so much though, because he always is using fowl langueage and i would figure it wouldnt bother him

CH 24

in chapter 24, holden goes to his old teachers house. to me it seems he has started his journey of running away from his problems. also he has finally ran out of excuses of being kicked out of school, because the teacher is smarter and wiser. this makes Holden uncomfortable, and not want to talk anymore. once again he doesn't want to face his problems.

CH 23

in this chapter, Holden seems to be getting really lonely. he asked his sister to dance. i thought that was kind of weird, but i guess holden is a messed up guy. he also is starting to think that he is going to run away from his problems, by going to the west. but he is wrong, you can't really run away from his problems.
