responce
responce- this book is quite repetative. every time they catch him and then he escapes. i thought maybe at the end, they would catch him, but it through me for a loop. they almost caught him again, but he escapes, and that is the end of the book, they finally let him go. i also thought that Cacciato's reason for running away wasn't a very good reason. but it is an American author, and talks aout our American troups. and talks about our belief's and how we half to follow orders. that is why the 6 soldiers had to chase after Cacciato so long.
Blog 2 of going after Cacciato
Summary-the author was telling us how they take post at night, they divide the night into 5 sections, and then 5 of the soldiers take each section of time. they did this so they knew if someone was after them at night, and also in case Cacciato was on the move during the night. one night while Stink was on guard, he heard something, so he snuck up on it and it happened to be Cacciato. he almost caught him, but he got away by biting and hurting Stink. the rest of the night and most of the next day, they other troups were bandaging him up and letting him heal a little. then they were on their way after Cacciato once again. the group o soldiers found his trail and followed it. as they were following it, they ran into an open place where water buffolo were standing. this caught Stink by surprise and by reaction, he started shooting, suddenly they heard something like girls crying. they went behind some bushes and found 2 old ladies and one young one. the young one said they were refugees and the other 2 were her aunts. she also said the buffolo were her aunt's buffolo, which they raised since they were born. then they wanted to go with the soldiers, and they finally let into letting them come. every night the 2 older women would weep for their lost water buffolo. on the good side though, the buffolo still alive, they got to travel on them. once again the 6 soldier were chacing after cacciato. they went through the jungle, over the mountains, and through deserted towns. one day they found Cacciato again. he was on the top of a hill, so they soldiers surrounded him. they couldn't close in on him, since he would be able to exscape in the large gaps, so they stayed back farther and waited for him to surrender. then at night he exscaped anyways, and took the girl that was with the soldiers. then we found out the reason why Cacciato was heading to paris. he was older guy, was sick of the war, and just always wanted to go to paris. next they think they caught him again, they thought they had him trapped in a hotel. they went into the room he supposeably was in and oscar ran in to the room and couldn't stop shooting. he was going crazy. the room was empty though, and they found where he was camping on the out skirts of town. he left them a note that said "heading west" . so Cacciato and the girl escaped again, and that was the end.

going after cacciato
in my book, it starts out talking about everyone that died in, and the soldiers that were left were standing among all the dead bodies. the weather isn't very good since it is raining everyday, so everything is extremely muddy and their man holes are full of water. then it goes into talking about Cacciato, a soldier, who ran away to france. the soldiers that were in his group decide they half to go after him to catch him. so they start on their journey after him. they split up and tried to trap him in the middle, but Cacciato exscaped the trap and kept on moving forward. they no longer were on his trail, and had to make their own trail. meanwhile the sergeant was sick and not looking very good. half of the soldiers wanted to go back, and the others thought they should go after him, so they kept chugging away after him. then it goes into talking about one of the soldiers named Paul Berlin, and the troups he had under his command.
Responce-
so far in this book, i dont quite understand what is going on. i understand they are chasing after Cacciato, but have no clue why. you think if a soldier was running away, you wouldn't have a group chase after him, because then you are just taking more away from battle. i would think they would just shoot him in the leg if they had a chance, which they did while they were chasing after him. anyways they also have a sick sergeant, which they should be getting help form somewhere. what i like about this book is that is goes into a lot of detail, about the war and almost lets you experience whats going on. it makes the book more interesting and i think the reason he hasn't told us why cacciato is so special is because it keeps us interested and wondering why. it also makes you want to keep reading to figure out why they are chasing him, because it almost makes you mad that you you don't no. well thats all i have for today bye. :)

CH 26
the final chapter. Holden doesn't want to talk about what went on in the park, but he ended up going home. i think this was a goof idea, because he needs a lot of help. it says he got sick and was put in an insane house. it is a good thing he is there, because he is getting to be so crazy that pretty soon he is going to kill someone or himself. the medical attention might help him overcome Allie's death and let him move on with a better life. also his brother D.B. comes to visit him and talks to him about his problems. i think that is what he needed, just someone to listen and to talk to.
CH 25
in this chapter holden seems to be becoming even more messed up and i think he is becoming insane. he is calling out to his dead brother to help him get across the road, and is just freaking out about everything. he then goes to the museum to meet his sister, so he can give her the money back she gave him. he sees "Fuck you" written all over the place and it made him angry. i don't get why that angered him so much though, because he always is using fowl langueage and i would figure it wouldnt bother him
CH 24
in chapter 24, holden goes to his old teachers house. to me it seems he has started his journey of running away from his problems. also he has finally ran out of excuses of being kicked out of school, because the teacher is smarter and wiser. this makes Holden uncomfortable, and not want to talk anymore. once again he doesn't want to face his problems.
CH 23
in this chapter, Holden seems to be getting really lonely. he asked his sister to dance. i thought that was kind of weird, but i guess holden is a messed up guy. he also is starting to think that he is going to run away from his problems, by going to the west. but he is wrong, you can't really run away from his problems.

CH 22
in this chapter holden finally gets his sister to listen to him, and he said why he got kicked out of school, and makes it seem like it wasn't his fault, it was just a bad school. then his sister asked what he wanted to do with his life, and he said he wants to be the catch in the rye. she knows what he is talking about and says he has the words wrong. then she asked him one thing that he likes and he said Allie. she then told him that he was dead.
Ch 21
in this chapter, holden gets home and sneaks into apartment and finds his sister. he watched her sleep for awhile, then woke her up. she was overjoyed at first and then realized he was home 3 days early. she figures out he was kicked out of school again and then wouldn't talk. she wouldn't listen to a thing he said and was mad at him.
CH 20
in this chapter holden is still at the bar and is getting completely smashed. he tried to call sally while drunk, and ended up upsetting her and her grandmother. at the bar he tried making a date with the singer and also the waitress. he then leaves to go to the pond, where the ducks are. on his way there, he ends up breaking the disc he bought for her. he then once again starts to talk about allie and then decides to sneak home to talk to his sister.
CH 19
chapter 19 was a short chapter, but anyways holden meets up with Luce at the bar and holden started to ask him questions about sex. it started to get on Carl Luce's nervse and he got mad, then holden said some smart ass comments, so carl ended up leaving.
CH 18
to start the chapter, Holden goes to get some food, then he called jane, but she didn't answer. then he calls an old friend up to go get some drinks. to pass some time, holden goes to a movie. while he was there he thought about his brother again, and he became more depressed. then he started walking to the bar.
CH 17
Chapter 17 starts off with Holden meeting Sally. they go to the play, and like everything else, the play isn't good enough for him. after the play, holden agrees to take sally ice-scating. they started talking and Holden said some crazy stuff, and sally just thought it was funny. it made Holden really angry, so he tells her she is a pain in the ass, then leaves.
Ch 16
To start off chapter 16, Holden starts by walking to the music store, because he wants to find a cd for his sister. he found a store and bought a cd and was extremely excited to give it to her. so he went to the park to find her, but she was not there. then he headed to the museum, but she was not their and he didn't want to go into the museum anyways, so he started walking to Biltmore to see Sally.
Ch 15
Holden starts the chapter by calling up Sally Hayes, and old friend. he asked her to hand out sometime so they decided to go to a matinee. then he went and got breakfast, where he ran into 2 nuns, who he had a good conversation with. before they left, he gave them a donation, then they headed their seperate ways.
CH 14
in chapter 14, it starts out with Holden talking about how depressed he is because he misses Allie, and can't forget about his death. while he was lying in bed and thinking about Allie, someone knocked on his door. it was the elevator guy and the prostitute. they wanted the extra 5 bucks. Marice the elevator guy holds holden down and Sunny took the money. then Marice punched Holden then left.
CH 13
in chapter 13, Holden is leaving the club and had to walk 41 block go get home. once he finally gets to the hotel, the elevator guy asked if he wanted a girl, so Holden got a prostitute. he was very nervous because he still has his v-card, but they end up just talking and never did anything sexual. he pays her 5 bucks, but she says ten, but Holden would not give her anymore. then she leaves.

CH 12
on the way to the club, Holden strikes up a conversation with the cab driver, and talked about where the ducks go in the winter. from that conversation, they moved on to talk about fish. he finally got to the club and it was packed. he met a girl that new his brother and they talked for awhile, then lied to get away from her.
CH 11
Chaper 11 starts out with holden talking about Jane and how he misses her and how he met her. he talks about her and everything they did in the past. he then went and got his coat and got a cab to go to earnie's. he is a very good piano player, and plays at his club. we are starting to see now that holden is getting to be more depressed and he is saying that too.

CH 10
in chapter 10, holden got washed up and went downstairs to a club. he starts to talk about his sister and how smart she is, and then says how everyone is smart in his family besides himself. he sat down at a table in the club and tried to get liquor, but couldn't because he was underage. then started to dance with a blonde lady, who was a really good dancer. he talked and paid for the girls the whole night. once again we see he is a completely different person when it comes to grils.
CH 9
in chapter 9, holden wants to call someone, but doesn't really have anyone to call. he is in his hotel and looks across the yard and see's some weird things going on. it gets him excited, so he calls up a girl, because he wanted some action, but she said it was too late, but she would come tomorrow. he hung up on her. this kid is starting to be kind of funny, he is a horn dog.
CH 8
in chapter 8, he starts walking to the train station and caught a late train. he has a really nice looking girl sit by him and he finds out it is one of his friends mom. Holden then starts to lie to her and says that her son is a very good kid and all, when he doesn't like him, and also says his name is the name of the janitor at the school. he then tells her that he is leaving Pency because of a brain tumor her has. I don't know why he has to lie all the time but he sure does it a lot and i hope it gets him into trouble pretty soon.
CH 7
Holden talks to Ackley, and then tried to fall asleep on his bed, but he couldn't stop thinking about Jane, his roommates date. he then leaves Ackley's room and ends up leaving the dorms for good. he goes to New York. Holden found a hotel to stay in because he wants his parents to be settled down before he goes home. this kid kind of does whatever he wants and really should be put somewhere with no freedom, like boot camp or something. something that will teach him some respect and manners.
CH 6
In chapter 6, Stradlader got back and read paper, he was angry because the paper was nothing to do with the assignment. Holden tried to fight him then, but gets pinned to the ground and then gets punched in the nose. Stradlater then left, and Holden went into Ackley's room, so he could talk to someone. i really liked that he was punched, but think Stradlater should have done some more danage, because Holden needs it. he needs someone to put him in his place.
CH 5
Holden leaves with some friends and ends up getting in a snowball fight, then they went to catch a movie, but the movie they went to was one many of them already saw. so they went to an arcade place and played games. then they went home and Holden started to work on the paper and ended up writing about a baseball glove, and then talked about his dead brother Allie. What i have read so far, seems that he is very fond of his siblings and they are about the only ones he does say anything nice about.
CH 4
Holden starts this chapter out by going in the bathroom and talking to Stradlater while he is shaving. he knows Stradlater and Ackley don't like each other, so he says they are a like in some ways, like by saying they are both slobs. His roommate then asked Holden to write a paper for him because he wouldn't have enough time to do it. so Holden says yes. Holden then asked who his date is and he ends up knowing who she is and likes her a lot. now we see another side of Holden, when it comes to girls he seems like a whole different person.
Ch 3
Holden has now left Mr. Spencer's house and is now talking about how he lied to get out of there, and also how he lies all the time, to get away from people or out of doing something. he went back to his dorm and started to read a book. then his friend Ackley came in and started to bug him, so Holden started messing around and doing things that annoy his friend. then his roommate came in and got ready for his date. now by chapter 3 i'm kind of getting sick of how he has nothing good to say about anyone and just thinks he is the best ever.
CH 2
in chapter 2 Holden is at his teachers house, Mr Spencer. Mr. Spencer wanted to talk to Holden about being kicked out of school. he told holden how life is a game and you need to follow the rules. they were talking and Holden told Spencer that he hasn't told his parents yet and also he has been kicked out of 4 schools now. then they talked about his old school again. i still think that nothing makes this kid happy and no one is good enough for him, when really the reason he isn't like them is because he doesn't try at anything and is just lazy about work.
CH 1
In chapter one, Holden, the main character, doesn't want to talk about childhood. he has currently got kicked out of the school he is going to because he is failing 4 ou t of the 5 classes. Holden was watching the football game and then had to go meet with a teacher. at the game he sat on the hill, because many people were mad at him because he got a bus lost earlier that day. so far what this kid sounds like, is nothing really makes him happy and everyone is a phobe.
